Want to improve your communication skills and confidence while helping others?
Then sign up to be a mentor for the Inspire Mentor Program where university students mentor school students once a week.
Mentoring is fun and easy – just chat to your assigned student and listen. You can talk about how things are going at school, what you think of university life, your favourite hobbies and sports – anything that helps you both connect.
Some school students think that university is beyond their reach. The Inspire Mentor Program encourages low socio-economic status, Indigenous and remote / rural school students to consider higher education as a real option for their future.
The program has run for over eleven years and mentors continue to tell us how rewarding it is.
Mentoring also helps build career-skills that will enhance your resume, such as oral communication, active listening and time management.
Volunteers can choose either face-to-face mentoring in schools or online (e-mentoring) for school students in remote / rural areas.
To be a mentor, all you need is 1-2 hours per week, enthusiasm and a positive attitude!
Volunteers receive:

  • Training
  • An Inspire Mentor T-shirt
  • A welcome pack
  • A certificate of participation at the end the year
  • The chance to join the online community of mentors
  • On-going support from our dedicated Inspire Mentor Team!

If you would like more information or if you would like to apply then contact the Inspire Mentor Program, email the Inspire Mentor Team or call 8201 2091.
